Start with the purpose
Folding cartons are formed from a cut and scored paperboard blank and often travel flat. Rigid boxes use a more defined board structure, commonly wrapped with printed or decorative paper. Each can suit different retail and presentation requirements.
Compare fit and packing
Consider product movement, insert needs, assembly and removal. A rigid outer form does not automatically remove the need for a fitted insert, while a well-designed folding carton can organise a compact retail unit efficiently.
Compare the complete order
Review dimensions, quantity, finishes, samples, assembly and freight on the same basis. Do not choose from a picture alone: two similar-looking formats may involve different packing labor and shipment volume.
What should the sample answer?
Check the intended opening, product clearance and contact surfaces using the real contents. Confirm print and finish separately from structure when the sample route does not represent the final material.
